Jordan Choy Announced as Young Communicator of the Year
(7 November 2013) Asia’s first and most widely-respected wine and spirit competition - the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition (HKIWSC) is pleased to announce the very first Young Communicator of the Year Award has been awarded to Jordan Choy.
Jordan is the chairman of the Hong Kong Wine Institute, vice chairman of the Greater China Wine Critics Association, a professional wine educator, wine columnist and wine consultant based in Hong Kong and China.
Jordan has worked as a food and wine Journalist and Editor in Oriental Press Group for the past ten years, and now acts as Executive Editor of WINE.Luxe, the highest circulation wine magazine in Hong Kong; he also regularly writes for some of Hong Kong and China’s most prominent publications, such as Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Automobile Magazine, CEO Magazine, Grocer & Caterer Magazine and Happy Men Magazine.
This new award has been created to recognize and reward a person based in Asia who has made noticeable impact with regards to the communication of wines and/or spirits in their country in the preceding 12 months.
Jordan holds a WSET advance certificate, and is a qualified certificate educator of L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux in France. Having travelled extensively to many important wine regions and countries around the world including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace, California, Italy, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Chile and Argentina, Jordan is a worthy recipient of the Competition’s first Young Communicator Award.
Entering its fifth year, HKIWSC was the first, and still remains the most authentic, wine and spirit competition in Asia. Created by the IWSC Group, Debra Meiburg MW and Simon Tam, the Competition has led the way in showcasing worldclass wines to the Asian market. The HKIWSC, not only selects the best, most established wines, for Asian taste preferences, but also aims to introduce some less well-known wines to the Hong Kong market, providing even more choice for the region’s wine lovers.
